Sutton Coldfield’s annual Christmas lights extravaganza is set to return to the Royal Town this weekend, with an afternoon of free family fun and festivities for the whole community.
Funded by Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID, the much-loved event will see Free Radio’s Brummie breakfast presenters, Dan Kelly and Naomi Kent, host an unmissable line-up of live entertainment before switching on this year’s dazzling lights display at 5pm.
Amongst the talented local musicians, groups and choirs set to take to the stage, is Sutton Coldfield-based performer, Joe Cook, and Sutton Has Musical Talent 2018 winner, Kacey McCann.
Little ones can get creative at the free Christmas craft workshops from 11am to 4pm, take a ride on the magical Gracechurch Express land train, and meet popular children’s character, Titan the Robot, who will be making special appearances throughout the day.
Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said: “We’re very excited to mark the start of the festive season with the whole community at our annual Lights Switch On event this weekend. Christmas is a particularly busy time of year in the town centre, as residents and visitors head out to tackle their Christmas shopping and celebrate with loved ones, so it is very important that we help create a magical ambiance. This year, we have gone all out and opted for a really impressive display to transform Sutton Coldfield into a winter wonderland.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming families and friends to join us for an afternoon of festivities as we step into Christmas in style,” he added.
As well as the Christmas Lights Switch On, Sutton Coldfield town will also host a packed calendar of celebrations in the run up to the big day, including Skett’s Christmas market, Burt & Gert’s craft market, and a variety of entertainment from pantomimes to live music, plus much more for the community to enjoy.
